Pencilling in the pages of my new comic book “FutureSpy” these days. Unlike in animation, you can make each comic book panel as detailed as you want without worrying about how it will look in motion. Every panel is an illustration unto itself.

step one
I’m working on a 24-page comic book and I’ve never really done one before so I thought it would be cool to share my process as I wrestle my way to publishing time.
The first step, after stirring ideas in my head for months, was figuring out what happens on each of the pages. I did this by writing scenes on masking tape so I could shift them around on my kitchen table (yes, i need a new one), figuring out the order and pacing.
