More Planet Meth recording Sessions
I’ve been lucky recently to get some very funny friends of mine in front of the microphone and deliver cartoon dialogue. You’ll be seeing these Planet Meth cartoons later on in 2009, but for now I’ll just introduce some of the actors to you.

Anyone who has looked at comedy site College Humor has witnessed the powerfully funny mind of Sam Reich. He’s the head producer of their series of very funny original videos, which is about to start airing as a TV show on MTV! I was fortunate to get him in the studio while he had an hour to spare.

Carlen Altman is a comedian and entrepeneur who’s voice will be recognizable to die-hard Meth Minute 39 viewers. (She dissed the Craigs and got Cher audited). In my opinion, no actress working today can play “confused and disgusted” like Carlen so I wrote a part just for her. Watch some more of her stuff here and buy her jewelry here.

Matt’s been performing all over the US for years, but not as a comedian. He’s the bass player for Indie pop group Mixel Pixel. When you hear his Planet Meth performance as “Phillip Stack”, you will understand why I think this guy has a future in voiceovers.
Planet Meth Recording Session
On Saturday I rounded up some actor friends for the first of what will be many “Planet Meth” dialogue recording sessions. As an animator, it’s great to know folks who were trained to perform at the Upright Citizen’s Brigade Improv theatre here in NYC. All I need to do is come up with a premise for a cartoon and they just take it to the next level of bizarre humor. Let me introduce the cast:
Nick Ross. He currently has a one-man-show over at UCB called “Cool Your J’s” which i highly recommend seeing. He played Sid in my Meth Minute cartoon “Sid & Nancy”.

Another UCB regular: Derek “Nacho” Nason. Nacho previously played Dennis, the caller on the original “Nite Fite” episode as well as characters in “The Palms”, “Cavalcade of Laffs”, and “Ultra & The Lazer Hearts: Throat Duel” and all the “Annie Mated” cartoons.

Drew Nelson, who recently brought the house down as the fish-man caller on Nite Fite episode 17:

And with all these dudes you need to have a female to round out the cast. Luckily we know improv comedian Jo Brown. Jo’s female voice can be heard in “The Palms”, “Sid & Nancy”, “The Meth Minute 39 Thousand”, and as the Ultra in “Ultra & The LazerHearts: Throat Duel”.

and finally, we had Mark Vitelli, AKA Lloyd of Penalty & Lloyd

There were moments in the recording booth that were so funny we fell on the floor from laughter. When you have that kind of audio to animate from, it’s pretty hard to fail. I can’t wait to share this comedy with the world.
