March is Music Month
Anyone who’s looked at my site for more than 5 seconds has probably noticed that I’m bonkers for music of all kinds. So for the next 31 days, I’ll be posting my favorite animations and drawings of mine that pertain to rock, rap, country, metal, doowop, funk, soul, and the very act of music appreciation itself.

Kanye West
Every year the music blog Hype Machine asks artists to create portraits for the top 50 artists. This year they asked me to do one for Kanye. Despite his weird ego tirades, I’ve been a fan since his first record. The songs are almost always great, and what other rapper is so supportive of animation? He’s either used or referenced Bill Plympton, Ralph Bakshi, Takashi Murukami, and Jim Henson to direct his videos!

Gimme The Nightclub
For a while I was really into making mashups. Well, I made about five and they were all pretty bad except this one. A hybrid of 50 Cent’s “In Da Club” and George Benson’s “Gimmie The Night”. These two songs fit together like sonic jigsaw puzzle pieces. I emailed the result to Dj BC, an acclaimed mashup remixer and he asked if he could improve it by extending it and adding some more bass thump. Download this killer version here.
